The Seminar Peace Process Compared: Lessons from Guatemala to Colombia, which took place at CEDLA on March 30th was a big success! The seminar was co-organized by CEDLA and the Peace Brigades International, and about 50 people completely filled the room. The seminar started with a brief presentation of Prof. Kees Koogings who laid out some similarities and differences between the peace process in the two countries. After that, Marcos Ramírez, from Guatemala, and Berenice Celita Alayon, from Colombia, both activists involved in the peace process in their country, both activists involved in the peace process in their country, presented their views on the role of the state, of the civil society and of the international actors in the peace process. Following that, the public participated with questions. The seminar was an exciting opportunity to create a much needed dialogue between academics and activists!
